“Community Research Using the National Register of Historic Places and the Historical Marker Database”
Presented by: Peggy Lauritzen
The National Park Service provides valuable information on historic places, tribal lands, and historic homes in their National Register of Historic Places. Coupled with the Historical Marker Database, these two sites can tell us a great deal about the areas where our ancestors lived. Those historic markers by the side of the road may contain valuable history for your ancestors’ stories, and perhaps even mention them by name. At our March presentation, Peggy Lauritzen will take you through the steps of using these resources to discover more about your ancestors’ communities, and the steps required to register new historic sites.
