Writing Family History Stories SIG
In late 2013, as the Society was emphasizing teaching and training, Jack Naylor suggested a writing group for the purpose of helping individuals expand their genealogic data into a narrative. About the same time numerous genealogy professionals were encouraging the narrative documentation of family histories; going beyond traditional data of life records, namely: birth, marriage, death, etc. originally titled Writing Family Life Stories, a number of members met on January 8, 2014 to agree on a format and protocol for the sharing of stories of Family History, Individual Life Stories (which do become history) and Genealogical efforts and exploits. The group meets monthly and conducts their meeting in the common way of sharing written stories and verbal feedback and suggestions. The attendees at the formative meeting were Bill Bluett, Lana Fitz, David Flint, Barbara Harley, Mary Jo McQueen, Donna Rathman, Pam Steube, and Jim Thordahl.”
