DNA Special Interest Group (SIG)

Genetic genealogy is a new and exciting field. The analyzing of DNA test results in conjunction with traditional genealogy methods has helped family researchers confirm their paper trail for their ancestors – even resolving some of those brick walls. It has also helped adoptees find their biological parents and has even helped criminal investigators solve cold cases. It has proven to be a useful tool.

Analyzing your DNA test results and paying attention to those “cousin matches” and their trees can point you in the proper direction where you can focus your search on finding those much-needed records for an elusive ancestor. It can also help you feel confident that your research has been correct if you can see the shared DNA that you have with descendants of that questionable ancestor.

The DNA we have received is a gift from our ancestors and is another piece of evidence to explore and use in our tree building. In this DNA SIG, group members share new DNA information they have discovered, how to use new features of the DNA testing/tool vendors and discuss the many DNA resources available.

The SIG currently meets through Zoom on the 4th Friday of each month at 10:00am.
