Safaris are Back!!
We will resume our Safari visits to local research libraries beginning in January 2023. Safaris are scheduled for the fourth Wednesday each month, so hold the dates on your calendar for next year.
January 25th we will be heading to the Orange Family History Center in Orange. They have made some amazing changes and upgrades to their library. They have over 6,000 books; they have more than 30 computers; they brought in state-of-the-art scanners so you can scan books, photographs, articles and documents. They also have available media conversion, so you can convert your audio and video media into digital format.
If you are planning on going on this Safari, please email our Safari Chair at Safari at soccgs.org.

The SOCCGS Genealogy Research Center is OPEN!
The SOCCGS Genealogy Research Center is open, and Docents are on duty (Times Docents are available) to help you with your genealogy research.
We expect that many of you will be eager to access those locked records on FamilySearch and our other databases, which we haven’t been able to use for the last year. To avoid long waits to use the computers, we have set up an online appointment system for our two genealogy computers.
To make an appointment for our genealogy computers, go to https://collecting404s.com/computer-reservations/ or click on the drop-down menu for the Research Center from the black menu bar at the top of our website, and then choose Computer Reservations.
Membership
Consider the joy of sharing family stories and finding new family members when you give the gift of a membership in our Society. Let your friends and relatives discover for themselves the thrill of connecting with other genealogists, attending our Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings, and gleaning new knowledge from our guest speakers at our monthly general meetings. You’re just a few clicks away from giving a unique and very thoughtful gift. Whether you use on-line payment through our PayPal feature or download, print out, and mail a membership application, your membership will be confirmed promptly by our Membership Chair Lynn Souers. “We’re thrilled to welcome new members and appreciate the enthusiasm of new genealogists,” comments Lynn. “This really is a unique gift and a great way to celebrate families.”
For only $25/year ($30 joint membership) you will continue to receive access to our general meetings, guest speakers, and SIG’S plus our information-packed newsletter. That works out to $2.08 a month! What a great bargain!
